Abstract

Waqf as a religious activity contains not only 'ubudiyah functions but also social functions. The advantagess and purposes of waqf implementation are to open the way towards worshiping Allah SWT, to create integration between security and social peace and to improve welfare. This study was conducted in Tampan District, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, which examines the management of waqf land (donated land). The aim of this study is to investigate the strategy of Waqf Land Management in Tampan District of Pekanbaru City. The framework of this study is the management strategy in planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring. The type of this study is field research. The population of this study is the Managers of Waqf (Nazhir) in Tampan District, Pekanbaru City. Based on the results of interviews with the Nazhirs, it can be concluded that the strategy of waqf management is carried out in accordance with the management functions, namely planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring. The suggestion for Nazhirs in Tampan District of Pekanbaru City is to be more serious in socializing about the understanding of waqf because there are still many people who do not understand the advantages of waqf, besides being a form of worship, certainly it can improve the economy and progress of society in Tampan District of Pekanbaru City.
