Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of metacognitive strategies on student learning outcomes between classes applying the lecture method and classes applying learning using metacognitive strategies with scientific learning models in class X of SMAN 10 Pekanbaru in the academic year 2018/2019 on the material general characteristics of plants and comparing two research classes namely the experimental class and the control class.he sample is chosen based on the homogeneity test from the pre-test value. Then class X3 was chosen as the experimental class and X4 as the control class. Data collection is carried out through tests of learning outcomes and observations. Based on the analysis of descriptive data obtained the average cognitive learning outcomes of experimental class X3 = 79.19 and control class X4 = 70.74 and the average psychomotor value of experimental class X3 = 80.15 and the average psychomotor value of control class students X4 = 78.53. Hypothesis test data were obtained after the treatment, where the X3 experimental class applied a metacognitive strategy with a scientific learning model, while the control class applied the lecture method. From the t-test data analysis it is known that T(count) > T(table), which is 4.73 > 1.75, then H0 is rejected H1 is accepted, then the hypothesis is accepted, that is, there is an influence of student learning outcomes between classes applying metacognitive strategies with students applying the lecture method in Class X MPN 8 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2018/2019.
