Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type of cooperative learning model on mathematics learning outcomes of Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru. This type of research is quasi-experimental research (Quasi Experiment Design) with Nonequivalent Conttrol Group Design research design using purposive sampling technique. The study was conducted in the odd semester of the 2019/2020 school year. The population in this study were all class VIII of SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru in the academic year 2019/2020, while the sample was class VIII.6 as an experimental class and class VIII.9 as a control class. The instrument used was a learning device consisting of a syllabus, lesson plans and student worksheets (LKS). The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. In descriptive statistical analysis shows that the average student learning outcomes of the experimental class data is higher than the control class. Furthermore, based on inferential data analysis with normally distributed data, then homogeneity test of variance data and t-test is carried out, namely one-party test > t table. This means that there is an influence between student mathematics learning outcomes using the cooperative learning model type Numbered Heads Together (NHT) with student mathematics learning outcomes using conventional learning.
