Abstract

Interrogative utterances are utterances that contain the intention of asking something to the speech partner. Likewise, in programs that are entertaining, it is only natural that many use interrogative speech to provide information. The problems in this study are: (1) How is the maxim of the politeness principle of language in interrogative speech at this program Talkshow on NET TV Episode 1369 Nostalgia Warkop Together with Pakde Indro? (2). What is the scale of the politeness of the language in the interrogative speech at the event Talkshow on NET TV Episode 1369 Nostalgia Warkop with Pakde Indro ?. This study aims to describe, analyze, interpret interrogative speech in the program The Talkshow on NET TV Episode 1369 Nostalgia Warkop Together with Pakde Indro. The source of data in this research is the youtube video of the program Ini Talkshow episode 1369, about "Nostalgia Warkop with Pakde Indro" which aired on January 11, 2019 on NET TV. The data in this study are all interrogative utterances in the youtube video at the program This Talkshow Episode 1369 Nostalgia Warkop Together with Pakde Indro. This research method is descriptive method. Data collection techniques used are documentation, listening techniques and note taking techniques. As a reference material the authors use the theory put forward by Leech in Chaer (2010) and Nadar (2009). The results of this study revealed that: out of the total maxim of politeness principles, there were 104 interrogative speeches that obeyed and 8 interrogative speeches that did not comply. Overall data with the following details: maxims of wisdom found 22 utterances that obey and 3 utterances that do not obey, maxims of acceptance found 4 utterances that obey and 0 utterances that do not obey, maxim of generosity found 6 utterances that obey and 5 utterances that do not obey, maxims humility is found in only 1 utterance and 0 utterances that do not obey, maxim of conformity in interrogative utterances, found 67 utterances that obey and 0 utterances that do not obey, maxim of sympathy in interrogative utterances, found 11 utterances that obey and 0 utterances that do not obey. The courtesy scale in interrogative speech from the overall data found 57 polite interrogative speeches and 14 polite interrogative speeches, with the following details: profit and loss scale found 17 polite speeches and 2 impolite speeches, 29 chosen polite speeches and 9 speeches that were not polite, the scale of unsustainability were found 1 polite speech and 1 speech that was not polite, the scale of authority was found 7 polite speeches and 0 words that were not polite, social distance scale found 3 polite speeches and 18 polite speeches.h
