Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model on the mathematics learning outcomes of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 21 Dumai. This research is a quasi-experimental research (quasi-experimental) with a non-equivalent control group design and the sampling technique used is purposive sampling. In this study, two classes were used, namely class VIIIA as an experimental class with the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model and class VIIIB as a control class with conventional learning. The data collection instrument was in the form of pretest and posttest questions. The data collection technique in this study was done by using a test technique. Data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, t-test. The results showed that there was an effect of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model on the students' mathematics learning outcomes in the experimental class and the control class. This can be seen from tcount > ttable which is 4.47 > 1.67. In accordance with the criteria Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted, from the results of the study it can be concluded that there is an effect of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model on the mathematics learning outcomes of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 21 Dumai.
