Abstract

Names are media that are produced from ideas or ideas in it contains meaning. Giving a name aims to make it easier someone remembers an object. The Sang Nila Utama Museum was also made as a cultural attractions that function to provide relevant information with Malay culture, Malay art and cultural heritage objects. When visit a museum, inside the museum there are various historic objects and each of these objects has a name and mean. In general, to describe and analyze the lexical meaning and naming the names of Riau relics found in the Sang museum Nila Utama, Pekanbaru was examined in the semantic field. The problem in this study are (1) What is the lexical meaning of the names of relics in Riau in the Sang Nila Utama museum, Pekanbaru? (2) How is it naming the names of Riau relics found in the Sang museum Nila Utama, Pekanbaru? The theory used in this research is theory Tarigan (2009), Manaf (2010), and Chaer (2013). Research approach in analyze the names of Riau relics in the Sang Nila Utama museum, This Pekanbaru uses a qualitative approach, type of field research, and using descriptive methods. Conclusions based on the data obtained are appropriate with a problem that is the names of the relics of Riau in the Sang Nila Museum The main names of all the objects are lexical. Then naming based on sound imitation there is 1 data, naming is based on the mention of the characteristic there are 29 data, naming based on the inventor and creator there are 5 data, naming based on place of origin there are 5 data, naming based on material there are 6 data, naming based on similarity there are 3 data and naming based on naming there is only 1 data.
