Abstract

Plagiarism is a perversion act and a scourge for science, because this action is something that should not be done. Plagiarism perpetrators steal other author's work without citing the original references, or making the work of others into their own. Plagiarism consists of 4 types; whole plagiarism, partial plagiarism, self-plagiarisme, and interlanguage plagiarism. But here's the problem with whole plagiarism. The purpose of this study is to find out the factors that cause students to perform acts of plagiarism in the creation of scientific work on campus X Pekanbaru City. Various things have also been done by the campus in preventing and reducing such actions, one of which is the application turnitin. The type of research used is a qualitative type of research that is research that presents a picture of the actual situation in the field. The factors that result in students doing plagiarism, because of lazy factors in the work of thesis, still a lot of tolerance, availability of services or bureaus of thesis making services, lack of honesty in the work of thesis, lack of understanding of plagiarism, lack of understanding of the title of the thesis studied, the similarity of the title of the previous thesis with the thesis made by students now, the lack of closeness of students with their supervisors who are educational, so that students consider that the act of plagiarism in the making of this thesis is a natural thing in order to achieve all their goals and desires, and they consider that his actions do not cause real casualties and do not harm others. Different things plagiarism action by using services, the campus is still difficult to catch and disclose, because the person in charge of that part does not exist, so the use of this service is still often the case in the writing of scientific works in the form of thesis.
