Abstract
The existence of prisoners who have just entered or joined a correctional facility seems to make the prisoners as "easy prey" to be oppressed or simply used as messengers in the correctional institution. Violence that occurs in this prison should be able to be followed up and needs to be examined further so that it is not considered normal and ordinary, as if it has become the pulse of life in prison. This condition seems to be rampant, while efforts to find a common thread from the core of the problem have not been done optimally. By conducting in-depth interviews with several informants through a qualitative approach, this study explains several criminogenic factors as to why newly joined prisoners often experience violence. The forms of violence that occur are also described in terms of verbal and physical violence. This happens because of the motivation of the old inmates for the new prisoners as a form of benefit that can be obtained. Plus the thought that explained that the new wbp was an easy target and would not dare to fight back. As well as the lack of guard personnel in prisons increasingly moderate the violence that occurs in prisons.
