Abstract

The low level of education in Gaung Subdistrict, Indragiri Hilir Regency is a problem of the lack of supervision from the Education Office regarding education. The purpose of this study was to determine the government strategy at the Education Office in overcoming school dropouts in Gaung District, Indragiri Hilir Regency. This study used qualitative research methods. The indicators of this research are environmental observation, strategy formulation, strategy implementation, evaluation and control. This research was conducted at the Indragiri Hilir Education Office. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, documentation. The technique of determining informants is carried out using perposive sampling, namely the method of determining the informants deliberately based on certain criteria or considerations, namely involving certain people. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the Government Strategy at the Education Office in Overcoming School Dropouts in Gaung District, Indragiri Hilir Regency has not been running properly, this is due to several factors, both internal and external factors such as economy, lack of public understanding of education, the surrounding environment, as well as lack of supervision from local agencies. In the regional government policy itself issued a policy, namely the 12 year compulsory education program as a form of providing scholarship funding for the poor such as the PIP program (Smart Indonesia Program), the BSM Program (Assistance for Poor Students) but in its realization, this assistance is still not targeted, such as misuse of funds scholarships from the student's guardians so that there needs to be an evaluation from the government, especially the Education Office.
