Abstract

Pekanbaru City Government through the Public Relations and Information Section of the Pekanbaru City Secretariat, based on Regional Regulation No 10 of 2013 concerning the Amendment of the Pekanbaru City Government SOTK and Mayor Regulation No. 84 of 2013 concerning the main tasks and job descriptions, the Information Management and Complaints Subdivision has 12 tasks and one of which runs the official government website. The Pekanbaru City Government website is managed in the PIPM Subdivision (Public Complaints Information Manager) starting in 2014. The Pekanbaru City Government Public Relations in managing this website runs Cyber PR. Cyber Public Relations is a corporate public relations activity / agency that deals with the public that works using online electronic media. The purpose of this study is to find out and get an overview of the role of Pekanbaru City Public Relations in managing websites as public information media. The research method used is a qualitative method. From the results of the study note that the role of the Public Relations Department of Pekanbaru City Government in managing websites in the optimal category. As a public information medium, the implementation of activities and communication in managing the website as a public information media is carried out every day by carrying out routine checks and coordination with the heads of the Subdivisions of each agency. The inhibiting factor of the success of the Pekanbaru City Government Public Relations in providing information to the Internal Public is the extent and magnitude of the City of Pekanbaru that cannot be reached by the Public Relations to directly engage in providing information to the Internal Public Because of the lack of experts. also internet facilities that are still inadequate to provide information to the Internal Public.
