Abstract

Humans are social creatures who cannot live alone and need each other in intracting and socializing. So humans can adaptation to adjust to their environment. Just as in the boarding school Dar-El Hikmah requires an adaptation process to be able to intract and communicate with others. This study entitle “the language adaptation process for new student in the islamic boarding school Dar-El Hikmah Pekanbaru”. The purpose of the study was two about the process of language adaptation and what where the inhibiting factors of the language adaptation process at Daer-El Hikmah Islamic boarding school. The adaptation is the ability of living things to adjust to their environmrnt. The are many kinds of the adaptation, adaptationof organs and so on. In this study the researcher used a qualitative methods using the adaptation theory. The researcher determiret 10 informant consist of 3 islamic student, 2 language administrator (OSDH) as the informants. The result of the research showed that from 6 informants, there were 3 student two needed the short time to master and remember the vocabulary and there were 2 student two needed a medium time to master the language, and the 1 student who needed a longtime to master the language at Islamic boarding school Dar-El Hikmah. In the Islamic boarding school Dar-El Hikmah the are two language that must be used namely Arabic and English. They communicate and interact whit friends, teacher, and senior. The abstrack factor in the process of the language adaptation at Islamic boarding school caused by the internal factor and eksternal factor.
