Abstract

The background of this research is that found symptoms or phenomena of verbal communication towards early childhood, namely there are children who have more time to caregivers than parents because parents work, there are children who like to say harshly and like to shout when talking, because his parents are easily emotional when advising him, there are children who tend to be indifferent to the surrounding environment and do not want to socialize and play with many friends (like to be alone), children like to throw objects around and difficult to control emotions if their desires are not fulfilled and there are children who are not independent and every job he lazy to complete. Because they see the above symptoms, researchers are interested in investigating more deeply about how parent' communication with their children are related to interpersonal communication, especially those related to verbal communication. This research is a descriptive qualitative research, with a kindergarten background Mawaddah. The results showed: verbal communication between parents and children include about how children communicate to parents and want to listen to what parents say by emulating good attitudes and being able to speak polite words, being able to understand each rule can control emotions in speaking with no speak harshly and be able to adjust to the environment around children, this includes: Emotive Speech, Phatic Speech, Cognitive Speech, Rhetorical Speech, Metalingual Speech and Poetic Speech. Implementation of the results of this study is the role of parents is very important in early childhood development, especially in communication, the better and nearer parents communicate with children, the better the development of verbal communication of children, but if children are rarely invited to communicate and are not directed properly, the child will tend to be difficult to adjust to communicate with the surrounding environment and also difficult to control emotions and speak words with courtesy, besides that parents will be a good example if able to set a good example to children, especially how to communicate well and want to respond to communication child well.
