Abstract
This study is motivated by the importance of pedagogical competence of Islamic Education teachers on students’ learning achievements. The pedagogical competence of a teacher is important to improve students’ learning achievements in the learning process. The signs of this problem are: some students are more dominant to play, some students do not listen to the teachers’ explanations, some students are not confident to express their opinions, some students only listen to what the teachers say without understanding the materials so that the students cannot answer the teachers’ questions, some students do not understand the learning materials well and they are less responsive to the teachers and the teachers only respond to the students who are smart and do not conduct discussions with other students in the classroom. These signs show that the students have problems in their learning achievements. The problem formulation of this study is whether there is an influece of the pedagogical competence of Islamic Education teachers on the students’ learning achievement in class VIII at SMPN 3 Bungaraya. The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of pedagogical competence of Islamic Education teachers on students’ learning achievement in class VIII at SMPN 3 Bungaraya. The subject of this study is all students of SMPN 3 Bungaraya, Siak Regency. Meanwhile, the object of this study is the influence of pedagogical competence of Islamic Education teachers on students’ learning achievement in class VIII at SMPN 3 Bungaraya, Siak Regency. The sample of this study consists of 49 students at SMPN 3 Bungaraya. This study has two variables, namely variable X (Pedagogical Competence) and variable Y (Learning Achievement). The data analysis method used in this study is the Simple Regression Test. Based on the results of simple regression analysis, it is found that a significant value is smaller than 0.05, namely 0.018 <0.05, so Ha was accepted and Ho is rejected. It means that there is an influence of pedagogical competence on students’ learning achievements at SMPN 3 Bungaraya. The magnitude of influence of variable X (Pedagogical Competence) on variable Y (Learning Achievement) is 0.430 (43%) which is included in the range 0.40 - 0.599 or in the medium category. In conclusion, there is an influence of pedagogical competence on students’ learning achievements at SMPN 3 Bungaraya of Siak Regency with the "Medium" category.
