Abstract

Waqf is a religious charity in Islam that has a direct functional relationship in the efforts to solve social and humanitarian problems, such as poverty and economic empowerment. This study is conducted at the BWI Representative Office of Riau Province, which is one of the nazhir waqf institutions in Riau Province that collects and manages waqf funds. The problem formulation of this study is how to collect cash waqf funds at the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) Representative Office of Riau Province. While the aim of this study is to investigate the strategy of cash waqf fund collection at the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) Representative Office of Riau Province. The type of this study is qualitative research and the informants of this study consist of 4 operational agents. The data collection techniques of this study are observation, interviews and documentation. Then, the collected data are analyzed by using qualitative descriptive approach which involves data reduction, data display and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of interviews with the research informants, it can be concluded that the strategy for collecting waqf funds is carried out through two methods, namely direct waqf fund collection and indirect waqf fund collection. The suggestions for BWI Representative Office of Riau Province are to be more active in socializing the waqf and its programs to the community in order to provide a broader understanding and awareness of the community, because the goal is to help people in need.
