Abstract

Excessive use of smartphones results in the emergence of a new phenomenon called phubbing, which is an act of ignoring a person's opponent or someone around him with more attention to his or her smartphone, or lack of contact eyes with your opponents when interacting. This study aims to determine the influence of phubbing behavior on social interactions in state high school (SMA) 8 Pekanbaru. Method of collecting data using the modified social interaction scale from Miraningsih (2013) with the number of 53 items and the scale of the phubbing behavior that has been adapted and diverted to bahasa indonesia with a total of 10 items. The research population is all Senior High School Students SMAN 08 Pekanbaru amounting to 638 people with samples obtained amounting to 247. The used sampling technique is disproportionate stratified random sampling. The data analysis method is used a simple linear regression analysis. Statistical analysis results show a value of t =-10.331 with a significant value of 0.00 (p < 0.05). This indicates that there is a significant influence on phubbing behavior on social interactions in senior high school students 8 pekanbaru. Effective donations of phubbing behavior variables against social interactions amounted to 30.3% remaining 67.9% influenced by other variables.
