Abstract

This study aims at how the effectiveness of google classroom online media mediated communication (CMC) media as a source of learning for students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Islamic University of Riau. Online media is one of the rapid development of information and communication technology at this time. The development of online media also supports the learning process. Googe classroom online media is one of the media that is now a tool used as a source of learning. Google classroom is a learning management system with the aim of facilitating the paperless creation, distribution and assessment of tasks. In this study researchers used a survey research method with a quantitative approach to obtain research data by sampling with Slovin formula using a simple random sampling technique of 83 respondents with a total population of 591 communication science faculty students from Islamic universities who used Google Classrooms starting with the class 2016-2018. Data obtained from these samples were tested using the Pearson Product Moment correlation formula and Cronbach Alpha formula. To answer the research problem formulation, researchers used the Mean Rank Order formula. The results of the study show that Google Classroom Online media is effective as a source of learning for students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Riau Islamic University. Based on the results of the calculation of kelurahan produce the number of scores from the respondents' responses of 8.984 with a percentage of 80.18% which means included in the category of "Effective". The score results are obtained from a combination of six variables so that the percentage is 80.18% which is included in the Effective category. Variable accessibility becomes a variable with the highest score in a broad range indicator included in the category of "very effective" with a percentage of 84.69%.
