Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine students' perceptions of science teaching in grade VIII of SMP Negeri 35 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2017/2018. The subjects of this research were the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 35 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2017/208 with the number of classes as many as 6 classes, subjects were 200 students. This research is survey reaserch with descriptif collecting of data. The results showed that the perception of grade VIII.1 students on natural science teaching was 84.21% or in very good category, the perception of grade VIII.2 students was 81.28% or very good, the perception of grade VIII.3 students was 83.37% or very well, the perception of grade VIII.4 students is 84.67% or very good, the perception of grade VIII.5 students is 87.70% or very good, and the perception of grade VIII.6 students is 78.28% or good. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that students' perceptions of teaching science in class VIII of SMP Negeri 35 Pekanbaru 2017/2018 Academic Year are very good. Very good student perceptions are known from the average answers to questionnaires of 82.74% or are at 81% - 100% (very good) intervals.
