Abstract

This research aimed to investigate language learning strategies used by Thailand students at FKIP UIR. Questionnaire was used to find out the students’ language learning strategies. The questionnaire was constructed based on strategy inventory for language learning (SILL) of oxford 1990 in which the learning strategy were divided into six categories; Memory strategy, cognitive strategy, compensation strategy, meta-cognitive strategy, affective strategy, and social strategy. The result showed that the strategy always used by Thailand students is Meta-cognitive strategy in percentage 25% students. Then, the use affective strategy and cognitive strategy in percentage is 9% and 7% students. However, the students had same usage memory strategy and social strategy in percentage is 6% students. Finally, the least strategy used by Thailand students is the compensation strategy only 4% students.
