Abstract

Role is a concept of what an individual can do in society as an organization. Therefore the role must be implemented and realized maximally. The purpose of this research is to know the role of Transportation Department of Meranti Island Regency in the Implementation of Crossroad Transportation Control in Meranti Island Regency. And obstacles in the implementation. Crossing Transport as a floating bridge that functions to connect land transportation networks that are disconnected from crossing transport activities that carry passengers and goods through rivers and marine waters have fixed routes and regular schedules, as well as ship-shaped buildings. In Meranti Islands Regency consisting of islands separated by the sea, of course, crossing shuttles become the mainstay of crossing used everyday, hence from that researcher is interested to do research in supervision of this crossing. The role assessment indicators used include Standards, Implementation of Supervision, Comparison and Corrections. Type This Research is Descriptive by using Qualitative method, The Informant Research which made the interview in this research is Head of Department of Transportation Head of Land Transportation, Head of Transportation Section, River of Crossing River, Transportation Entrepreneurs Crossing, Communities using Crossing Service. The types and sources of data consist of primary and secondary data which are then analyzed descriptively. The result of the research concludes that the role of the transportation service in the implementation of the monitoring of ferry transport in the archipelago district Meranti the researchers considered less good. The obstacles of the Department of Transportation are that the supervision carried out by the Transportation Agency of Meranti Islands Regency is ineffective so that there is no firm action taken by the Transportation Department in following up the violations, and there is no regulation either the local regulation, the regent's regulation, and the regent's regulation about the transport of the crossings made her weak supervision
