Abstract

Problems that occur in Riau, especially coastal area of Bengkalis Regency, that is difficult to get material produced by stone crusher and also quary, so it cost big enough. For the efficiency and economics of the needs of the stacking materials eventually strived local materials (fine sand) Pulau Rupat. The first step of this research is to make the composition of the gradation material, making the gradation mixture of the two types fine aggregate of Silica sand and Tanjung Balai Karimun Sand with Composition 0/100, 20/80, 50/50 and 100/0, making mixed assay Asphalt Treated Base (ATB) with variation of asphalt content 5,0%, 5,5%, 6,0%, 6,5% and 7,0%. Test results from ATB Marshall value were compared between the two aggregate types and then to analyzed. At 6,5% asphalt level there was a significant increase of stability value (4872,89 Kg), this is because of Rupat Island sand is Silica sand. Silica very influence to stability value. The result of laboratory research shows that, the value of VITM, VMA, VFWA, flow and density, there is view difference of the two types of sand used for all types of mixed portions and asphalt content. This is due to the type of fine aggregate of Rupat Island or silica sand and sand of Tanjung Balai Karimun (Used by AMP Benglakis) has an almost bad aggregate gradation and a rounded aggregate shape. The value of VITM, VMA, VFWA, flow and density is influenced between aggregate cavity and aggregate pores, the percentage of large cavity causes the mixture to be porous. The immersion value of stability, VITM, VMA, VFWA, Flow and density are significant decreases in asphalt level 5,0, 5,5%, 6,5% and 7,0%, this is due to the same case, so that the pore between aggregates is quite large or has a high porosity that eventually makes the water absorbed into the mixture, water absorbed to accelerate the process of oxidation that results in asphalt becomes brittle (aging premature), and eventually bonds become loose.
