Abstract

Through the internet, students can easily search for learning materials and scientific information by relying on Google, a search engine that is very popular among students who are able to find any information they want. It is undeniable that various media greatly support success in the learning process which requires high school students, especially for class X, to adapt to learning. The purpose of this research is to find out how high school students adapt to learning in the current era of information abundance. The research used a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach. To collect data, researchers conducted interviews and observations. The research subjects were 5 people, namely 3 females and 2 males aged 15-17 years who attended public high schools in Pekanbaru City, class X. The results showed that despite facing various challenges such as discomfort and confusion over information obtained through the internet, the subjects remained initiative and adaptive in seeking information, could utilize technology and rely on social support to support the student learning process. This shows that learning adaptation in the current era of information abundance is strongly influenced by individual characteristics and the learning environment support they receive especially from parents.
