Abstract

The competence or ability of an employee is essential to complete a specific job. Employees with low competence or lacking the ability to perform tasks will hinder job completion and result in poor performance. Therefore, it is necessary to have human resources with good competence. The purpose of this research is to analyze the Development of Agricultural Extension Workers' Work Competence at the Food Security and Agriculture Office of Rokan Hilir Regency. The research method is descriptive qualitative. The number of research informants is 6 people, with the Head of Facilities, Infrastructure, and Extension as the key informant. Data collection techniques include interviews, and data analysis in this study uses the on-site data analysis technique developed by Miles Huberman. The research results show that the Development of Agricultural Extension Workers' Work Competence at the Food Security and Agriculture Office of Rokan Hilir Regency has been implemented but is not yet optimal and needs to be further improved based on indicators of knowledge, skills, and abilities. The Food Security and Agriculture Office of Rokan Hilir Regency demonstrates a strong commitment to enhancing the work competence of agricultural extension workers. Various training programs, both technical and non-technical, are routinely organized to ensure that extension workers always have up-to-date knowledge and skills.
