Abstract

Early adulthood is a time of physical, cognitive, emotional changes, and new patterns of social relationships. Changes make male individuals must be able to adapt and affect interest in appearance or celebrity. In addition, interest can also be influenced by mass media. Easy access to mass media can lead to celebrity worship and what happens if a celebrity has a good appearance, an ideal body image will arise. This allows individuals to have a positive or negative body image of themselves. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between celebrity worship and body image in early adult men. The population in the study was early adult men with a sample of 220 respondents. The research sampling technique is non-probability sampling using purposive sampling method. Data collection used a celebrity worship scale totaling 31 items and a body image scale totaling 25 items. The data analysis method uses Spearman's rho. The results of the correlation analysis were 0,157 with a Sig 0,020 value (p < 0,05). It is known that there is a positive significant relationship between celebrity worship and body image in early adult men. Based on this, the higher the celebrity worship, the higher the body image, conversely the lower the celebrity worship, the lower the body image.
