Abstract

Domestic violence (KDRT) is a problem that often occurs in marriage, including in unregistered marriages. Victims of domestic violence will get the fulfillment of their rights from the violence they experience, but the fulfillment of the rights of victims of violence in unregistered marriages is different from legal marriages in the state. In this study, the problem was reviewed using criminological theory, namely the theory of multiple victimization. The study was conducted using qualitative methods with the main research data obtained through interviews with perpetrators of unregistered marriages who were victims of domestic violence and Pekanbaru City DP3A officers. This study found that unregistered married couples who experienced domestic violence could not be handled using the Domestic Violence Eradication Law, because their marital status was not registered in the Religious Courts, so they did not get their rights properly.
