Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF-CONCEPT AND CAREER MATURITY IN PSYCHOLOGY STUDENTS OF THE ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY OF RIAU Derra Patrias Mener 178110236 FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY UNIVERSITY OF ISLAM RIAU ABSTRACT Career maturity is the ability possessed by an individual to be able to plan, prepare, and make decisions in a career in accordance with the information and knowledge possessed by the individual. Individuals with good career maturity will have a good self-concept so that later they can plan, prepare, and make the right decisions in their future career journey. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-concept and career maturity in Psychology students at the Islamic University of Riau. This study involved as many as 271 psychology students at the Islamic University of Riau who were selected using simple random sampling technique. The measuring instrument used in this study is a self-concept scale of 22 items compiled by Rosa (2017) and a career maturity scale of 57 items compiled by Fadhli (2017). Data analysis using the Rank Spearman Order which shows that there is a significant positive relationship between self-concept and career maturity, the value of R = 0.430 with p < 0.005 is 0.000. Based on the coefficient of determination test, self-concept contributes to career maturity by R Squared = 0.220 or 22%.
