Abstract

One of the challenges for parents who have children with special needs is to cure or alleviate children's health problems and live them as part of everyday life, this has been proven to have an effect on the psychological well - being of parents. Patience is a backbone of the value of resilience which is widely used as coping when people face psychological problems. This study aims to determine the relationship between patience and psychological well being in parents who have children with special needs. The number of samples is 53 people using the jenuh sampling technique. Data collection in this study used a patience scale with a total of 11 items and a psychological well being scale with 42 items. Based on the results of the Spearman Non - Parametric correlat ion test the data showed that the correlation value of patience with psychological well being was (r) = .550 and it was known that the significant value was 0.000 <0.05. This proves that there is a positive relationship between patience and psychological w ell being. This means that the higher the patience, the higher the level of psychological well being in parents who have children with special needs at the Riau Province Autism Service Center. Vice versa, the lower the patience, the lower the level of psyc hological well being in parents who have children with special needs at the Riau Province Autism Service Center.
