Abstract
Facebook is one of the social networking websites that is currently increasing in popularity and the number of members has increased sharply in a short time. Students are tasked with learning and studying, because adolescence is a transitional period that people really want to pay attention to, Facebook is a website that can make these teenagers more expressive in highlighting themselves, their desires, and their profiles. So that these students will continue to play Facebook so that their homework is disrupted and takes up a lot of time by playing the site. The theoretical concept that researchers use is the Stimulus – Response communication model. To find out the stimulus that arises from an effective promotion, knowledge is needed about the factors that influence a person in receiving, considering information and making decisions in buying the products offered. This research is a quantitative study. To measure the strength between two variables, namely Facebook social media as the independent variable and student learning motivation as the dependent variable, simple regression is used or often also called simple regression. From the results of the t test, the tcount value for the Facebook social media variable is 2.800 (greater than the ttable of 1.983), and the PValue is 0.000 < 0.05,) the results of this study indicate that Facebook social media affects the learning motivation of SMA-IT Imam Syafe'i Pekanbaru students.
