Abstract

Geprek chicken agro-industry is a chicken meat processing industry that aims to meet the community's food needs for ready-to-eat food, create job opportunities, increase income and create added value. This study aims to analyze: (1) the Characteristics of employers and workers at Prexoe Chicken Cottage, (2) Analyze the agro-industry business of Prexoe Chicken Cottage, including production technology, use of production materials, production costs, income, and business efficiency using the product, ( 3) The strategy for developing the geprek chicken business at the Prexoe Chicken Cottage. This research used a survey method located in the Lima Puluh District of Pekanbaru City which was carried out for 6 (six) months from June to November 2022. Respondents were taken by a census with a total of 3 (three) people, consisting of 1 (one) entrepreneur and 2 (two) workers. Data sources consist of secondary and primary data, analyzed using agro-industry analysis and SWOT analysis. The results showed that the average age of employers and workers was 26.7 years. The average length of education for employers and workers is 13.3 years. The average business experience of entrepreneurs and workers is 3.3 years. The average number of family members of entrepreneurs and workers is 2 (two) people. The geprek chicken business scale at the Prexoe Chicken Cottage is a small business and is in the form of an individual business. The technology in the production of geprek chicken still uses simple technology. The total workforce is 216.88 HOK in one year of production. The total production cost per year of production is IDR 209,114,060, the total production is 19,620 portions, the gross income is IDR 294,300,000, net income is IDR 85,185,490. The RCR is IDR 1.41, so the geprek chicken agro-industry is profitable. The internal factors influencing the development of the geprek chicken agro-industry at the Prexoe Chicken Cottage can be seen from the SWOT analysis. Based on the results of the SWOT matrix analysis, the following strategies are obtained: The S-O strategy is to enlarge the business scale by increasing offers through social media by following technological advances and improving product quality by looking at consumer purchasing power and demand. The S-T strategy is to increase sales through a strategy of building cooperation with delivery services, making price promos or discounts to attract consumers to buy the products offered, and maintaining the cleanliness of the place of business so that it attracts consumers to buy these products. W-O's strategy is to increase promotional activities to attract new customers and utilize more modern technology in the production process and keep records of every sales transaction. W-T's strategy is to provide maximum service to consumers and use raw materials and supporting materials efficiently.
