Abstract
Employment has many angles of connection. This linkage is not only for the benefit of the workforce during, before and after the working period, but the linkage also covers the whole for both employers, workers, government and society. The scope of employment is not narrow, limited and simple. The reality in practice is very complex and multidimensional, therefore it is true that labor law does not only regulate work relations, but also includes regulations outside the employment relationship and if there are parties who are harmed, then legal protection is needed. Legal protection as a separate picture of the function of the law itself. Which has the concept that law provides justice, order, certainty, benefit and peace. The problem outlined in this study is how legal protection for contract employees at PT. Karya Suka Abadi Pekanbaru and what are the obstacles in legal protection for Contract Employees at PT. Karya Suka Abadi Pekanbaru. Judging from its type, this research uses sociological research methods, namely by conducting surveys or going directly to the field to obtain information and data related to the author's research. Judging from its nature, this research is descriptive in nature which provides a clear picture of what actually happens in a problem under study. The research results obtained in this study are legal protection for Contract Employees at PT. Karya Suka Abadi Pekanbaru is quite good but not optimal, this was revealed by the results of interviews and questionnaires with researchers with companies and workers with the status of a Specific Time Work Agreement (PKWT) or commonly called contract workers/employees. The lack of understanding of contract employees regarding work contracts and the rights they should receive is due to their lack of knowledge and lack of supervision from the government, in this case the Manpower Office at the company, is one of the factors in not achieving legal protection for contract employees at PT. Karya Suka Abadi Pekanbaru as a whole is in accordance with Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation. Of course this is a joint responsibility of both the company, Contract Employees (PKWT) and of course the supervisory role of the government.
