Abstract

Students are the stage of entering adulthood, so logically at this stage of development, the responsibility that a person acquires will be heavier. This is certainly not easy to obtain without the inner will to excel where students need parental communication skills, this is not out of understanding the importance of the student's sense of gratitude. This study aims to determine the relationship between parental communication skills and gratitude for students at the Faculty of Psychology, Islamic University of Riau. The subjects in this study were 242 students of the Faculty of Psychology, Islamic University of Riau, who were selected based on the simple rondem sampling method. The measuring instrument used is the parent's communication ability scale and the gratitude scale. The method used is a correlational quantitative method which is presented in the form of numbers. This study was used to examine the correlation between the independent variable, namely the communication ability of parents and the dependent variable, namely the gratitude of students, using the computer assistance program SPSS series 21.0 for windows. These results prove Ha = accepted so that the relationship that occurs is the higher the communication ability of parents, the higher the gratitude, and vice versa, the lower the communication ability of parents, the lower the gratitude of students at the Faculty of Psychology, Islamic University of Riau.
