Abstract

Binary Options is a platform for users or clients to trade binary options. In general, options are a way to follow the trading of financial services without having an actual portfolio asset (derivatives trading), which guesses the change in the price of the asset portfolio of the investment item. While binary options trading is an option trading by guessing only from the two possibilities available, the assets in the portfolio will increase/rise or decrease/decrease For example, currently the price of a currency of 1 USD is equal to IDR 14,000, what about tomorrow's price? customers have a choice tomorrow at 1 USD will be higher or lower than IDR 14,000? If the customer's choice prediction is correct, then the customer will receive several benefits. The purpose of the research on the formulation of this problem is first to find out the binary options trading mechanism that harms customers on online applications, secondly to find out the application of the law to binary options trading according to Islamic law. As for this research using a normative approach, with qualitative analysis is an analysis by describing / describing, then comparing data with the provisions of laws and regulations, Islamic legal provisions or the opinions of legal experts and expert opinions of the MUI (Indonesian Ulema Council). The results of this study show that the binary options trading mechanism has an element of speculation and profit, while this element in profitable trading or games in Islam is referred to as maysi (gambling). As a result, it can be said that the trading mechanism and application of the law of binary options is a gambling game with an updated form even if it uses analytical techniques or not. And it has also been explained in the Al-Quran surah Al-Baqarah 219, wich discusses maysir (gambling) that maysir or gambling is a greater sin than the benefits.
