Abstract

Peers are one of the social supports that can have a positive impact on students who are writing theses, students who are writing theses tend to be more easily stressed due to the pressure they face during the thesis writing process. Social support is needed to reduce stress on students who are writing their thesis. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and stress in final students who are writing a thesis at the Islamic University of Riau. The population in this study was 723 with a sample of 258 respondents using the Purposive Sampling using a data collection tool in the form of a questionnaire. The results of the Non Parametric Spearmen correlation test showed that the correlation value r = -0.377 with a p value = 0.000, which means that in this study there is a negative relationship between peer social support and stress in final students who are writing a thesis. Where the higher the social support, the lower the stress on students who are writing a thesis.
