Abstract

Transportation is the process of human movement from one place to another. When going to campus, students have their own mode of going to campus based on certain factors. This study aims to find out what factors influence the selection of student modes, and to know the modeling of the selection of student transportation modes to campus. The location of this study was in Pekanbaru City, the samples used were students from five of the largest universities in Pekanbaru City, they are Riau University, Islamic University of Riau, UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau, Lancang Kuning University, and Muhammadiyah University of Riau. Data analysis using the Logistics Binary Regression analysis method using the help of SPSS 25. The results showed that as many as 400 students from five campuses in Pekanbaru, including Riau University (82 respondents), Islamic University of Riau (96 respondents), Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau (78 respondents), Lancang Kuning University (68 respondents), and Muhammadiyah University of Riau (76 respondents) were respondents to this study. Of the 16 variables tested, the factors that most influenced the selection of student modes were the Speed (0.034) and Availability (0.040) factors. Then, the selection model obtained is U (Private Vehicles – Public Vehicles) = 3,213 – 1,982X13 – 1,778X15. So the probability obtained is that students in Pekanbaru City choose private vehicles to go to campus is 96%, and the most preferred private vehicles are motorcycles. And for public transportation at 4% with Trans Metro Pekanbaru as the most preferred public vehicle by students in Pekanbaru to go to campus.
