Abstract

This research was quantitative with correlational approach. The background in this research was from the importance of teacher’s pedagogic competency especially Islamic education teacher in improving students’ learning interest. A teacher’s competency in learning activity was very important in influencing students’ learning interest that was still low. The formulation of the problem questioned about how was Islamic education teacher’s pedagogic competency on students’ class X TKJ learning interest at vocational high school 2Pinggir Bengkalis regency. The purpose in this research examined to know the influence of Islamic education teacher’s pedagogic competency on students’ class X TKJ learning interest at vocational high school 2Pinggir Bengkalis regency. The subject in this research was students’ class X TKJ at vocational high school 2, meanwhile the object in this research was the Islamic education teacher’s pedagogic competency on students’ learning interest. The population in this research was 60 students. Because the students was less than 100, it made population as sample by using total sampling method. This research consisted of two variables where pedagogic competence (X) and learning interest (Y) with simple linear regression analysis. Research finding explained based on descriptive result that Islamic education teacher competency had been stated in good category with value score in 72.63%. Meanwhile, students’ learning interest had been stated in good category with value score 74.33%. Hypothesis testing stated that Islamic education teacher’s competency had significant influence on students’ class X TKJ learning interest at vocational high school 2Pinggir Bengkalis regency. The relationship was in strong category. Meanwhile, Islamic education teacher’s competency could give influence on students’ class X TKJ learning interest at vocational high school 2Pinggir Bengkalis regency was in 63.9% and 26.1% was influenced by others factors.
