Abstract
In vertical drilling activities, the weight/pressure provided by the bit equipment is a big key to speed up drilling activities. However, in most cases only using WOB cannot be done in drilling activities. Therefore, it is necessary to use additional tools such as a mud motor in the drilling activity. A mud motor is a progressive cavity positive displacement (PCPD) pump that is placed in the drill string to provide additional power to the drill bit while drilling. PCPD pumps use drilling fluid (commonly referred to as drilling mud, or simply mud) to create an eccentric motion in the motor power section which is transferred as concentric power to the drill bit. An appropriate squeeze cementing method can perform a water shut off. The design results from the use of a mud motor in vertical well drilling in field X show that the use of a mud motor can shorten the total time required for drilling activities in the well. This is shown by the results that show the excavation experienced a time saving of about 0.071%, and a loss of -1%.
