Abstract

The type of this study is a quantitative correlational study. This study is motivated by the low interest of students in learning. The problem formulation of the study is whether there is an influence of the family environment on students’ interest in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 3 of Pelalawan Regency. The study aims to investigate the influence of family environment on students’ interest in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 3 of Pelalawan Regency. The subject of the study is all students of SMPN 3 of Pelalawan Regency. The population of the study is 31 students at SMPN 3 of Pelalawan regency. The study has two variables, namely Family Environment (variable X) and Interest in Learning (Variable Y). The results of the study show that there is an influence of family environment on students’ interest in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 3 of Pelalawan Regency. From the results of data processing by using IBM SPSS statistics 22 for windows, it is known that the simple regression show that the significance value is less than 0.05, or 0.001 <0.05. So the alternative hypothesis stating that there is an influence of family environment on students’ interest in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 3 of Pelalawan regency is accepted. The magnitude of the influence level between the Family Environment (variable X) has a contribution of 31.9% to the Interest in Learning (variable Y), while the remaining 68.1% is influenced by other variables which is not examined in this study. It means that the influence of family environment on students’ interest in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 3 of Pelalawan regency is in the “low” category.
