Abstract
This study aims to examine the effect of reward and punishment on employee performance at PT. Karya Agung Sawita PMKS Ujung Batu-Sosa, North Sumatra. The population in this study were employees of PT. Karya Agung Sawita PMKS Ujung Batu-Sosa, North Sumatra. The sample taken is all employees, amounting to 50 people. Data collection techniques used in the study used questionnaires and interviews. The analysis used in this research is descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the variable giving rewards and punishments simultaneously affects employee performance with a calculated F value of 11.914 > F table 4.047. Partially, the reward variable has a significant positive effect on employee performance with a t value of 2,312 > t table 2,011, the punishment variable has a significant positive effect on employee performance with a t value of 2,998 > t table 2,011. The amount of contribution given by the variable of reward and punishment is shown by the coefficient of determination of Adjusted R Square of 0.308. This means that 30.8% of employee performance can be explained by the variable giving rewards and punishments. While the remaining 69.2% is influenced by variables not examined in this study.
