Abstract
challenges, such as theses. This study aims to determine the relationship between positive thinking and academic self-efficacy. This research is quantitative. The population of this study was students of the Department of Psychology, Islamic University of Riau, Class of 2017 to 2018 who had received a research proposal SK (Decree). The number of samples is 152 students. The sampling technique used is Quota Sampling. Research data was taken using a positive thinking scale and academic self-efficacy scale. The positive thinking scale consists of 43 items, and the academic self-efficacy scale consists of 35 items. The data analysis technique uses the Pearson Product Moment technique with a correlation coefficient of 0.655 with a significance level of p = 0.000. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between positive thinking and academic self-efficacy in students who are preparing their thesis. The higher the positive thinking, the higher the academic self-efficacy, and the lower the positive thinking, the lower the academic self-efficacy.
