Abstract

Even though an environment clean of waste can bring a sense of peace to all living creatures, many individuals continue to throw waste everywhere. This study aims to deterimine the behavior of waste disposal in Pekanbaru City. The method used in this research is qualitative, the subject of this research is the community, Head of Development and Community Empowerment and Head of Law Enforcement. Based on this study, it was concluded that the behavior of waste disposal of Pekanbaru City was motivated by regulations, socialization and facilitation which were considered less effective. The provision of socialization to the community is not routine; most socialization occurs only in the realm of education. In addition to socialization, adequate advice and facilities must be applied; a lack of facilitation can result in garbage piles on the side of the road as a result of community disposal. The absence of this can result in habitual behavior as a result of routine littering in areas that are supposed to be free of concerns.
