Abstract

The purpose in this research examined to know there was any influence of reward and punishment on teacher’s professionalism at MAN 1 Indragiri Hilir. The method used quantitative correlational research. The subject in this research was teachers at MAN 1 Indragiri Hilir. In addition, the object in this research was the influence of reward and punishment on teacher’s professionalism at MAN 1 Indragiri Hilir. The population in this research was 78 teachers and the sample was all population in 78 teachers. Data collection technique used questionnaire and documentation. Based on data analysis, it was known that there was any influence of reward and punishment on teacher’s professionalism at MAN 1 Indragiri Hilir. It was known by correlation analysis result X1 toward Y had significant score 0.002, meanwhile X2 toward Y had significant score 0.001. Then, 0.002 and 0.001 smaller than 0.05 and the hypothesis was accepted. Teacher’s professionalism (Y) was influenced in 0.157 or 15.7% by reward 9X1) and punishment (X2), meanwhile the others 84.3% was influenced by others factors. Besides, the relationship level between reward (X1) and punishment (X2) with teacher’s professionalism (Y) in 0.396. After connecting to correlation coefficient interpretation table (r), score 0.396 was in range 0.20-0.399 with low category. It meant that the hypothesis was accepted, the influence of reward and punishment on teacher’s professionalism at MAN 1 Indragiri was in low category.
