Abstract

Indonesia is a country that is famous for its production of spices, including pepper. The development of pepper in Indonesia which has increased, is also accompanied by a good supply. This study aims to analyze: 1) the development of demand for Indonesian pepper and the variables that influence it. 2) Dominant factors that influence the demand for Indonesian pepper and 3) The response of pepper demand in Indonesia to the influencing variables. The method used is descriptive analytical. The type of data used is secondary data in the form of series data from 1990 - 2020. The data analysis uses multiple linear regression and elasticity analysis. The supporting software uses Microsoft Office Excel 2019 and the XLStat plug-in full trial version 14 days 2021. The results show that the variables of pepper price, chili price, gross domestic product (GDP) and population simultaneously affect the demand for Indonesian pepper. The dominant factors that influence it are pepper prices, GDP and population. The variable that is responsive to the demand for Indonesian pepper is the population in the long term, while the other variables are not responsive in both the short and long term.
