Abstract

This research is motivated by the utterances of questions raised by Andy regarding controversial issues raised by Luhut's policies and statements. The problem in this research is how the formation of interrogative speech and the scale of politeness in interrogative speech in the Kick Andy talk show What's Up with Luhut on youtube. The purpose of this study is to describe, analyze, interpret, and conclude about the form of interrogative speech and the scale of politeness of interrogative speech. The data in this study are all interrogative utterances contained in the Kick Andy Ada Apa Apa dengan Luhut talk show on youtube. The data collection technique used is documentation, listening, and note-taking techniques. Data analysis techniques used are identifying, numbering, classifying, presenting data, analyzing, interpreting, and concluding research results. The conclusion in this study is that the formation of interrogative speech that is most often used is interrogative speech using question words. This is because, the event is an interview with the aim of getting information from the resource person. While the least interrogative speech found is interrogative speech by reversing the word order and using the word "not" or "no". This is because, Andy is a journalist, so the wording used is structured and rarely asks for the form of denial or choice but by asking questions to gather information. In terms of politeness scale, interrogative speech in Kick Andy's talk show What's Up with Luhut is considered impolite. This is because, the interrogative utterances used by the presenters often corner the sources related to the issue of Luhut which is currently controversial in the community.
