Abstract

This research entitled the existence of Gumantan rituals in Teluk Beringin Village, Gunung Toar District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province. With the formulation of the problem, how is the existence of the Gumantan rituals in Teluk Beringin Village, Gunung Toar District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province. This study aims to determine the existence of Gumantan rituals in Teluk Beringin Village, Gunung Toar District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province. The method used is descriptive analysis method with qualitative data, with data collection techniques namely observation techniques, interviews and documentation. The theory used in this research is UU Hamidy's theory (2002: 31). From the results of the research that the authors do, the Gumantan ritual is a healing ritual, when viewed from the religious aspect, the existence of the Gumantan ritual in Teluk Beringin Village, Gunung Toar District, Kuantan Singingi Province, according to the view of religious leaders is contrary to the Islamic religion because in the implementation of the Gumantan ritual there are wrongly allied violations. with the devil. In terms of traditional aspects, the existence of this Gumantan ritual has indeed become a habit of people from the past until now, but along with the development of the era, the existence of this Gumantan ritual is rarely found. In terms of the community aspect, the village community of Teluk Beringin accepts the existence of the Gumantan ritual to cure diseases. The offerings in the Gumantan ritual are mat, boreh butiah, long cloth, white cloth, flame, candle, linjuang leaves, knife, lime.
