Abstract
steel is a steel that has a low carbon content. The problem that often occurs in steel is corrosion. There are various ways that are done in reducing the corrosion rate in metals, one of which is the addition of corrosion inhibitors and coating. Rice husk ash is one type of ash used as a corrosion inhibitor because it contains tannins. Tannins are complex compounds used as inhibitors to protect metals and corrosion. Pine sap is a type of sap that has elastic properties and adhesion and heat resistance so that pine sap is very suitable for use as a coating material. This study aims to determine the effect of the concentration of rice husk and pine sap on the corrosion resistance of low carbon steels. The method of measuring the corrosion rate used is the method of losing weight. The composition of the inhibitor is a ratio of 30:70, 40:60, 50:50 and soaking is carried out for 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 days and is calculated weight loss, lorotion rate and inhibitor efficiency are calculated on days 5,10, 15, 20,and 25 days. The results showed that the value of the corrosion rate decreased with the addition of the number of inhibitor concentrations and the corrosion rate would increase with the addition of the soaking time. The lowest corrosion rate value that occurs at 25 days is found in the concentration of 50:50 which is 0.0604 mm / y, the time of 20 days occurs at the concentration of 50:50 which is 0.1114 mm / y, the time of 15 days occurs at the concentration of 50:50 which is 0.1591 mm / y, the time of 10 days occurs at the concentration of 50:50 which is 0.3501 mm / y, the time of 5 days occurs at the concentration of 50: 50 which is 1.1459 mm / y. the efficiency value of the inhibitor will increase along with the increase in the number of concentrated inhibitors given. The highest inhibitor efficiency occurs at a concentration of 50:50 with a soaking time of 25 days which is 90.11%.
