Abstract
The internet can be the main source in opening people's horizons and presenting games on the internet in it or called online games, teenagers are easily lulled by modern games. They do it to get rid of boredom so that they lack the ability to control themselves. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-control and online game addiction in junior high school students. This study uses a correlational quantitative design. The hypothesis proposed in this study is that there is a negative relationship between selfcontrol and online game addiction in junior high school students. The subjects in this study were 87 students who were selected using a purposive sampling technique with the criteria of the subject being junior high school students, being in the early teenage phase, playing online games for 2-3 hours/day or more. The data obtained were analyzed using the Pearson product moment correlation test. The results showed that there was a negative relationship between self-control and online game addiction in junior high school students with a correlation coefficient of -0.442, and p=0.000 (p<0.05), so that the proposed hypothesis was accepted. This shows that the lower the self-control, the higher the addiction to online games and if the self-control is high, the lower the addiction to online games in junior high school students.
