Abstract
4140 aisi steel can be used as a boiler component material. At high temperatures and a sulfur content in the boiler fuel accelerates the cortical pace. Various methods are being taken to reduce the rate of corrosion, one of which is adding inhibitors. The ashes of rice chaff are often used as inhibitors for containing silica. Silica is a compound that can be used to reduce the rate of corrosion. The study aims to know the effect of adding a rice chaff extract inhibitors as a coating on the steel corrosion rate of 4140 in sulfuric temperatures and environments. Tests are conducted with variations of 1.7 hours on which the steel surface of the aisi 4140 are covered with several tinctures such as 50 mg na2so4, 100 ml of inhibitors, and a combination of both, spraying and leveling. Results obtained at test time 1 hour. Without a layer of 438.97 mm/year, using the 53028 mm/year inhibitor, deposit na2so4 442.64 mm/year and inhibitor plus na2so4 7447.27 mm/year. For the sevenhour test. Without a layer of 241.23 mm/year, using the 297.75 mm/year inhibitor, deposit na2so4 250.24 mm/year and inhibitor plus na2so4 329.76 mm/year. The conclusion to expose its corosi rate is getting smaller, but the use of ABU chaff extract inhibitors cannot reduce its corosi rate
