Abstract

The problem of violence experienced by women today cannot be viewed as an individual problem only but is a social problem related to various forms of violence, torture, cruelty, and against human dignity. The current judicial process is very often too focused on only giving punishment to the perpetrators of the crime but does not see what must be done to restore the condition of the victim, both physically and mentally. This study aims to find out how the role of the office of women's empowerment and child protection (DP3A) pekanbaru city in handling cases of women victims of rape (sexual violence). This study uses a qualitative method by conducting interviews with assessment officers, psychologist counselors, clinical psychologist and victims. Based on the research that has been done, it is found that the role played by the office of women's empowerment and protection (DP3A) pekanbaru city in handling cases of women victims of rape (sexual violence) through assessment officers, psychological counselors and clinical psychologists. Assessment officers act as recipients of victims' complaints, psychological counselors play a role in providing counseling to victims, clinical psychologists play a role in examining and caring for victims who have experienced deep trauma due to the case that happened to the them by conducting psychotherapy and counseling for victims and the women's empowerment and protection service (DP3A) pekanbaru city provides safe house facilities if the victim needs a new place to live in order to avoid the perpetrators in the form of providing protection and handling for victims of rape (sexual violence).
