Abstract

Human relations with the environment for a long time then gave birth to various characteristics of society in accordance with the characteristics of the environment which is seen as culture. Culture is strongly influenced by the availability of natural resources in the environment. The elements of culture consist of language, knowledge system, social organization, life equipment system/technology, livelihood system, religious system, and art. Based on the existing cultural elements, this research limits the study to three elements, namely, the religious system, the livelihood system, and the system of living equipment/technology. The purpose of this study is to analyze, interpret, describe and conclude ethnoecology related to religious systems, livelihood systems, and living/technology equipment systems in the Tale of the Community of Pebenaan Village Keritang District Indragiri Hilir Regency. The method used in this study is a descriptive method using a qualitative approach. Data collection technique is a method used by researchers to be able to collect data and information which will later be useful as supporting facts in presenting research data. The results showed that there were cultural elements related to ethnoecology in the form of a religious system, a livelihood system, and a living/technology equipment system in the Fairy Tale of the Pebenaan Village Community Keritang District Indragiri Hilir Regency namely the religious system as a whole there were 15 data, the livelihood system 23 data. , and living equipment/technology systems there are 26 data. The more dominant ethnoecology in this fairy tale is ethnoecology in living equipment/technology systems because in general these tales tell the daily lives of characters who use tools to help them fulfill their daily needs.
