Abstract
The success of sweet orange farming is very dependent on the cultivation technology used, but there is still a lack of knowledge of farmers in the use of production factors and the level of efficiency in plant maintenance to produce the expected production. This study aims to analyze: (1) Characteristics of farmers, (2) Use of production factors, costs, production, income and farm efficiency, (3) Factors that affect production, and (4) Level of technical efficiency, price efficiency, and economic efficiency. The study used a survey method in Sungai Aur District, West Pasaman Regency, with a sample of 40 farmers from 10 villages using simple random sampling. The data analysis used is qualitative, quantitative, cobb douglas production function, and efficiency analysis. The results showed (1) Farmers are in the productive age group, namely the average age of 45 years, the average level of education of farmers is 10 years (equivalent to junior high school), the experience of farming is on average 6 years, and the average number of family dependents 5 souls. (2) The use of production factors with a land area of 0.74 Ha, the number of sweet orange plants as much as 225 stems / arable, the use of manure as much as 1,947.3 kg / arable / year, NPK fertilizer as much as 244.2738 kg / arable / year, fertilizer urea as much as 29.0425 kg/year and pesticide 22.57 liters/year. Sweet orange production is 6,170.8 kg/arable/year. The total cost of production is Rp. 14,058,977.5/year, gross income is Rp. 43,195,600/year, and net income is Rp. 29,136,622.5/year, with farming efficiency of 3.07. (3) The factors that influence the production of sweet oranges in Sungai Aur District are the number of plants, NPK fertilizer, and manure at a significant level of 5%. Meanwhile, urea fertilizer and labor were not significant and had no effect on sweet orange production. (4) Technical efficiency, price and economic use of inputs or production factors are on average inefficient so that farmers have to reduce the use of inputs to increase production.
