Abstract
This study aims to determine the performance of briquettes by utilizing the basic ingredients in the form of cow dung and sawdust as alternative fuels. In this study, the raw materials were divided into five variations, namely: 80% cow dung vs 20% sawdust, 60% cow dung vs 40% sawdust, 50% cow dung vs 50% wood sawdust, 40% cow dung vs 60% sawdust. , 20% cow dung compared to 80% sawdust. The compressive load is varied into two parts, namely: 3 kg and 5 kg. Where in this research process the parameters tested include the value of water content, density value, combustion rate value, and calorific value obtained from each variation of briquettes. From the results of this test, the best water content value was obtained at a variation of 20% cow dung compared to 80% sawdust and was given a compressive load of 5 kg with a value of 1.46%. The best density value was obtained at a variation of 80% cow dung versus 20% sawdust given a load of 5 kg with a value of 0.813 gr/cm3. The best value for burning rate was obtained at a variation of 80% cow dung versus 20% sawdust given a load of 5 kg with a value of 0.075 gr/min. The highest calorific value was obtained in the variation of 80% cow dung versus 20% sawdust given a load of 5 kg with an LHV value of 6664.15 cal/gr, while the highest HHV value was obtained at a variation of 80% cow dung versus 20% sawdust given a load of 5 kg. 7441.75 cal/gr.
